Tatting can be done several different ways; by hand, shuttle or a tatting needle - a blunt ended needle about four inches long, otherwise known as a doll maker's needle. The needles come in three different sizes; #3-0, #5-0 and #7 fine.
I taught myself to tat using a shuttle but now I find it a lot quicker and easier using a needle. It is easier for me to keep my work straighter. Below are a few examples that I made up for this page.
